Photos all day, every single day…

Behind the scenes, Emma and I have been hard at work on a photography book. For the past month I feel like I've constantly had the camera glued to my face. It's a good feeling. This project has brought so much inspiration and perspective! I'm more passionate than ever about capturing little moments in life. All I want to do is snap-snap-snap! Sometimes a big challenge is the best way to bring on big inspiration.

What is your current challenge and what are you inspired about? xo. elsie

  • I am totally obsessed with trying to make my blog amazing…..it’s turning out to be much much harder than I thought but definately enjoyable and rewarding.

  • I’m working on a 52 Weeks project! I knew I couldn’t do a 365 just yet..but wanted to work on my photography. Your blog has inspired me to think about starting my own!

  • I have decided to complete a years worth of month long projects because I was inspired by this man: http://pinterest.com/pin/224687468879523492/ who shot 1 second of film each day for over a year to document his daily life.

This month I am also shooting 1 second a day. Next month leave a piece of art in public each day.

  • Wow…. For me I guess it’s a challenge. Bring my camera everyday. Sometimes eventho I bring my camera, either I procrastinate or I don’t have enough gut to snap a pic..

But really I think I need to take a step, baby step. Everything has a beginning rite. Hopefully I’l get over those obstacles and just do it πŸ™‚

You’re such an inspiration Elsie and Emma

  • I work on everything, i find it hard to focus so its photography and crochet and shop and study. Dream big, work harder!

  • I am currently obsessed with my Dina mini camera, it’s been fun using it and taking it along with me everywhere I go. I have decided that through out the year it’ll be fun to take pictures of all the adventures the Mr. and I go on this year since its our first year of marriage!

  • Wow…I guess my current challenge is to finish out this semester on a high note, and get those final papers in!

My inspirations are blogs, local shops, yarn, colors….I have dreams of opening a vintage boutique in my hometown, and I find I am inspired from the environment around me πŸ™‚

  • i love photos! its so much fun capturing moments in time and being able to look at them, cry at them, and laugh at them even years later. i hope you’ll share photos of your book when you are finished!

  • Ah! I want to know more about this book! I can’t seem to figure out what it is about! Lol.
I think my current challenge lies in balancing a 40 hour work week with what I am truly passionate about. And in discovering what those passions are exactly. Glad I started young! Xo

  • I just started a blog and a print and art shop and it’s been a challenge to find the right balances and getting my work out there. I’m really passionate about what I do and I want to share it with everyone! It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for awhile and I finally jumped into it. πŸ™‚

  • My current project is to chronicle every day *in some way* be it photography, journaling, blogging…And to make sure everything I do has the date on it so I can look back at everything chronologically.
Right now I’m inspired by soft colors, blurred lines, and the ideal of leading a simple life.

  • I’m so excited for your book! Let’s hope you ladies get to do a book tour and that you come somewhere near me. I’m just graduating from college and now my biggest challenge is focusing on getting my Etsy shop fully stocked and re-branding myself, and creating a successful business. Oh, and planning my wedding that is in a few months. Overwhelming, but so fun πŸ™‚

  • I cannot wait to see the end result of the book, I just know it’s going to absolutely lovely.

My current challenge is trying to finish building our house with my fiance in time for our wedding this October. We have come so far since we started three years ago, but building a house just us and my fiance’s parents we can’t move as quickly. But I think we have a good shot of getting it done enough for the wedding. Fingers crossed!

  • Current project: ‘havana nights’ cocktail party, for blog and fun.
Inspiration of late: Desert blooms, I’ve been in the paint dept at Home Depot and that spot is super inspiring. Oddly enough I’ve been very inspired by my mom’s cancer (photography area). Lot’s of images, some happy some sad.

  • OMG, this will be awesome. A book by you two! Can’t wait to read it. Love your blog and your courses. I’m so inspired by you, that I started my own blog. And this will be my big challenge for the next weeks to come. Wish me luck! πŸ™‚

  • First and foremost, I love your posts and I’m so excited for your book! (Also, it was so so great meeting you in Austin on the SucrΓ© tour!)

Secondly, your blog as inspired me (and I’m sure so many others!) to start my own. It’s a big undertaking (already getting slightly overwhelmed), yet an exciting challenge that I can’t wait to get started with. The man and I have already vowed to carve out at least one day each week where we hideout at a coffee shop together while I figure out the blogging thing and he continues writing his first zombie children’s book. I’m most looking forward to being able to have something tangible where I can chronicle inspirations, projects and capture special moments in life.

  • You always make me want to take more photographs. I need to carry my DSLR around with me more πŸ™‚ I’m just trying to be creative + keep art in my day to day life. Painting more, journaling more + capturing more beautiful pictures. β™₯

  • Looking forward to your lovely book. one of my all time favourite books is written by ‘The happy campers’, its full of beautiful lomo pictures taken from travelling around england with a tent, with little projects of how to make kites and read the stars, etc. I think you would really love it!.. Write now i’m drawing every day and all the time, working on a project for art school drawing from industrial and mechanical components- not what i would normally draw, but loving it! It’s a challenge but i find ‘happy thinking’ always helps!
    Love from lillie

  • I cannot tell you how excited I am about your new book! At the moment I’m about to start my exams so I’m daydreaming of all the lovely projects I could do and I’m making sure whenever a new idea pops into my head I note it down, so I’ll have a long list of fun things to do in the summer!

  • I love photography. My challenge in that is to find beauty in everything, and capture it in such a way that that beauty is featured. Sometimes my photos don’t come out the way I prefer, but I know that each time I snap a shot I am taking a new adventure and I have something new to learn every time.

  • This post makes me a little sad because BOTH of my camera died this month! First my nice big Nikon and then my little point-and-shoot back up.. I am excited for your book though, that sounds like fun!

  • My biggest challenge at the moment is preparing myself for living 3 months in Suriname next year, for my internship. I’m so excited about it!

  • I just participated in my first big craft market this past weekend, so my current challenge is get reorganized, follow up with all the amazing contacts I met, and keep moving forward with my new small business. Mostly right now I’m inspired by all the opportunities that I have come upon recently. Life moves fast.

  • This is great, Elsie. I am so looking forward to both of your books, but especially your photography one. My current project is finishing a short story/novella that has been in the back of my mind since late last summer. This character just won’t leave me alone! My goal is to finish it by the time I turn 25 next April πŸ™‚

  • Is that Zooey Deschanel? (double take)

p.s. I’m excited to see your book!

  • so excited for the new book! i’ve been working on some amigurumi designs to (fingers-crossed) open a custom order etsy shop this summer. i’m almost done but oy my wrists are hurting and i haven’t even opened shop! i’m freaking out a tad though because i just got a early order in for 16 duckies for a retreat someone is throwing in july. ahhh!

  • I am inspired/motivated/sometimes frustrated by a drive to get better and better at photography! Doing fine with fine art prints (http://www.annadelores.com) but striving for self-portraits, portraiture, maybe even weddings… and it’s a totally different ballgame from what I’ve been doing the past year or so. It’s a challenge and I tend to be impatient! πŸ™‚

  • I signed up for the 2013 Sketchbook Project…my sketch book should be here any day now. It’s my aim to actually complete it this year, as I have failed to do for the past three years because of my goldfish like attention span.
As for inspiration, you inspired me – via Instagram and Picture Show – to get an iphone…yep, the blame is completely yours. But y’know, thanks and stuff πŸ˜€

  • Oooo exciting stuff, I can’t wait to see it! I’m upgrading my DSLR soon and I’d love to start a 365 project but I don’t know if I’d be able to keep it up. I might either try to do it everyday for a month or once a week for a year πŸ™‚

    xxx

  • I wish I was patient enough to really give photography more time! But my hubby is great at that so I just borrow his photos!

I’m trying hard to add more exciting things to my blog so I really should give some time to improving my photography!

    Cant wait for your book!

    love

  • U are soo cute!! ur beautiful and i really think u and ur husband are adorable togheter!! wish you and emma all the happy things!!

  • Right now I’m working on the Blog Love e-course! SO excited for the rest of the lessons and re-designing and branding my blog!!! It’ll be a bit yet, but I’m having fun learning πŸ™‚

  • I can’t wait to see the book!

I’m writing a children’s book, training for a marathon, aiming to blog every day and currently on a trip around the World. I made a list of 100 things to do in 2012 and ticking them off gradually…Thank you for sharing, your blog is very inspiring. Christine x

    πŸ™‚

  • the happiness project has inspired me a lot since i’ve read it last week. and your ecourse about blogging! i’ve been working on it for the past few days and getting really excited about making my blog the best it can be πŸ™‚

    so thank you for that!

    xo, cheyenne

  • I love photography but i’ve recently been neglecting it…making excuses, like being too busy, not having anything exciting to take pictures of (totally untrue). So I’m getting inspired to re-discover my inspiration! Does anyone have ideas for photo challenges that could re-ignite the spark? i recently got a diana mini and flash and a wide lense toy camera, but i’m looking for fun ways to use them πŸ™‚ Thanks!

  • My challenge right now is to develop a more healthy lifestyle. I have cut processed “addition” sugar out of my diet (like sugar is my tea, cookies, syrup, and store bought jams and jellies) and am using more natural, healthy sweeteners. I do let myself have a “naughty” treat on Wednesdays, and one over the weekend too ;). I’m also riding my bike to and from work four days a week (9km total per day). It’s a really challenge since I was for so long one of those girls who could eat whatever they wanted, never exercise, and nothing would change. Now that I’m married and in my 20s I’m realizing how precious my health is!

  • My challenge is getting the ideas in my head out on paper! Love your blog and all your fun DIY projects

  • My ongoing challenge is to MAKE time to make things. I haven’t scrapbooked in ages and I really miss getting my hands dirty with a gluestick. My latest project goal is to finish a first-year-of marriage mini album sometime before our tenth anniversary. That seems doable, right? πŸ™‚

Can’t wait to see the book Elsie. Your pictures have always been inspiring, since the days I discovered your scrappy products on the Hobby Lobby aisles.

  • Both of you have been such an inspiration to me! I, too, have always loved capturing the little moments in everyday life, or as you said in one of your posts: ‘the little details that make up the story’, but a lot of people never understood or still don’t understand how much joy it brings me doing that. Thanks for inspiring me to continue doing what I love to do!

You ladies are a very talented bunch, and as soon as I’ve finished my degree it would be wonderful to fly to the States to visit you at your store!

Can’t wait for the book πŸ™‚ xx

  • My current challenge is being at Art school & doing drawing…..I struggle with it! Practising is making it a little easier tho. I would like to be taking more photo’s but I’m struggling to find the time…..I guess it all comes down to making time!
Pumped to see this new book! πŸ™‚

  • my current challenge I guess is to make the best out of my summer before a new semester starts! i’m enjoying myself learning more about photography and fashion! and I must say, your blog became part of my inspiration to keep going!

New Photo Diary is up, Hope you can check it out πŸ™‚

  • I can’t wait to see this book–I bet it’s going to be incredible. My biggest challenge right now I think is life balance. I’ve just started a new, stressful (but rewarding) job and moved to a new city. Balancing these changes with my current friendships and desire to make my blog better can be tough!

  • I am currently challenged with growing my blog and my business. I am loving both challenges! I can’t wait to get your photography book!

  • I have two challenges. First challenge for fun: at least one Instagram photo posted every day. Already done 4 months and still loving it. Second challenge for a better me: Run a 5k.
It’s so great to look back and see what I’ve accomplished in just a few months.

  • My current obsession is learning about ethical fashion – I have books on the subject coming out of my ears! I hope to start selling great ethical brands in my shop to hopefully make a little bit of difference to the way people buy fashion. Dream big! X

  • Gosh, it’s been busy around here. Between work initiatives, holiday parties, shopping, wrapping, and being a mom, there wasn’t much time left over. I’m going to try and do some catch up within the next few days. We had a lovely Christmas holiday, and especially enjoyed starting new traditions with our kids. (first year with kid(s) in the plural!) As always, I enjoyed decorating and wrapping, and let E get in and help a little.

  • Biggest challenge ever: trying to keep up with my students as a full-time teacher while starting a freelance photography business on the side. Very, very inspiring and wonderful and stimulating and…exhausting. I’ve never been happier.

  • Actually my big challenge is to take more photos too! Haha. That and make the most out of my time here. πŸ™‚ I feel like I laze around way too much.

  • I’m taking your blog love corse right now and it’s very helpful, the hardest part is the designing aspect. It’s very overwhelming as I am computer challenged but it’s something I need to learn as my blog will become a crucial part of my career. Thanks you for ongoing inspiration ladies xoxox
