Spring + Summer Diffuser Blends

I just had a massive shift in my mood due to daylight saving time starting earlier this month. I already feel SO much better! I really have spring fever, so I have been making small changes like adding fresh flowers, opening ALL the blinds every morning and trying some new diffuser blends to spread springtime cheer!

Here are my two current favorites …

Spearmint, Rosemary and Lavender. Use equal parts (4 drops each) Rosemary and Lavender with just one drop of Spearmint for the perfect herbal blend.

An energizing blend—put this on along with your morning coffee. Mix 3 drops Blood Orange, 2 drops Lime and 2 drops Ylang Ylang. So nice!

All these oils can be found on Oui Fresh.

I diffuse essential oils in our home every single day. I have a diffuser (see my favorites here) in our den (right by the kitchen), in our main living room and in my office that I start every morning. The ritual puts me in the mood to start my workday. If you’re having trouble with productivity or staying focused, try creating small rituals to start and end your workday with. It really works! xx. Elsie

  • My parents got an oil diffuser recently and I had never even thought of mixing oils (I’m dumb, I know) but I’m definitely gonna try it now.

  • Something that I hope people look into is that there are many essential oils that are harmful to animals, and they should really be used cautiously. For example, the second recipe is not good to have around pups due to the citrus oils in the recipe.

    • According to the ASPCA, diffusing oils isn’t bad for pets (so long as they can’t access or tip the diffuser over or anything like that). The real harm comes when the oils are applied to their skin or paws, or worse, ingested.

      • My cat is extremely allergic to essential oils and some have even caused her to have an asthma attack. (I’ve only diffused oils and never applied them to my pets) Cats are much more sensitive then dogs and I definitely learned that lesson the hard way with an expensive vet bill. The only oil that I can diffuse now that doesn’t bother her is Rose and geranium.

    • I diffuse oils around my dogs almost every day. I have definitely heard these warnings, but I also haven’t heard stories or anything happening to dogs- so I honestly haven’t worried about it (my personal choice). I don’t diffuse excessively, only about one to three times per day, depending on my mood.

I DO worry about using toxic cleaning supplies in our home, and have cleaned that up since having kids (good for our dogs and all of us too!).

If anyone has links to studies or articles, that could be helpful.

  • Can’t wait to try this mix!
That would have to wait after my wife’s pregnancy though. We’ll stick to lavender for soothing and eucalyptus for energizing!

(Careful with all of these if you’re pregnant or nursing : Aniseed, Angelica, Basil, Black pepper, Camphor, Cinnamon, Chamomile, Clary Sage (often used during labor by midwives safely), clove, fennel, fir, ginger, horseradish, Jasmine, Juniper, Marjoram, Mustard, Mugwart, Myrrh, Nutmeg, Oregano, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Wintergreen.)

  • I’ve recently started diffusing oils and I am OBSESSED. I do it everyday too as soon as the kids and I get home from school and work. 🙂
