We Love Farmers Gastropub

Farmers Gastropub 1Farmers Gastropub 1Farmers Gastropub 1Farmers Gastropub 1Farmers Gastropub 1We're big fans of a Farmers Gastropub in downtown Springfield (right next to our favorite movie theater!). Their concept is all about sustainability and supporting local farmers. Also, their food is amazing. I'm obsessed with the mushy peas. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. Here are a few snapshots from lunch today!Farmers Gastropub 6Farmers Gastropub 6Farmers Gastropub 6Farmers Gastropub 6Farmers Gastropub 10Farmers Gastropub 12Farmers Gastropub 12If you find yourself in Springfield, try it. You'll like it—just don't forget the mushy peas. xoxo. Elsie + Emma

  • I’ve been wanting to go to Farmer’s Gastropub for ages – the problem is trying to convince my friends that they should try someplace new! (we’re big fans of Aviary and Springfield Brewing Co.)

  • I made a special trip to this place on a my way to New Orleans from Omaha to visit my in-laws…..and they had the nerve to close their kitchen at noon because it was Sunday! It has made me permanently biased :[ I was really excited to go there and didn’t eat all day before driving the 6 hours to get there….I was so disappointed I won’t go back, and neither will my friends in Springfield who came to meet us for lunch.

  • This seems like such a nice quaint place to eat. I would love to visit there one day!

  • Looks delicious 🙂 We have a similar place in Little Rock called The Root Cafe. They have a map on the wall with pins showing where all in Arkansas all their food comes from. My fiancé wants their chocolate-chili brownies instead of a traditional groom’s cake. Sooo good!

  • I’m from England, and lived in the USA for a while in 2006. I found mushy peas in the International Food aisle at Walmart! In a fit of homesickness I made Shepherd’s Pie for my American host, with mushy peas. She wouldn’t try them, she said they looked gross! It’s good to see English cuisine being championed here! Nice pictures girls 🙂

  • What kind of camera and lens did you used to take this pictures? Thank you!

  • Looks lovely, prices are fantastic too, $11 bangers and mash would be £11 in a place like that in England! Take it from me, I frequently pay it here!

  • Yum, looks good, especially those chips, wish I was close enough to pop in!

  • The last picture is cute 🙂

PS–made the glitter dish last night! It’s fantastic and such a fun accent to our bedroom!

  • looks delish! Wish we had one in Jamaica…nice pictures too.

The closest thing we have to this in Jamaica would be a few English Pubs. I love that kind of food and can only imagine how nice it must be in that coooold weather!

  • Just like the food we get in pubs here in the UK. Yum yum yum.

  • I love local places like this! I think every community should have one. What better way to sample local produce and enjoy a good fresh meal? Hamilton has one, Earth to Table Bread Bar and it is definitely my favorite restaurant in the city.

Sometimes cosy comfort food is what you need. Sometimes cupcakes just won’t do. Yes, I said it!

  • This place looks so nice and warm: perfect to have a cosy lunch. And the food looks delicious.
For me, the atmosphere of a restaurant is almost as important as the food, so I would definitely stop by this place.
Oh, and is it snowing in the last picture? I miss snow…

  • I live in Kansas City now, but I used to live in Springfield and this place is awesome!

  • One of the hardest parts of my adult life, has been trying to sneak peas into my diet. I still eat things like cookies and ice cream for breakfast as a way to rebel after being a child who couldn’t leave the table till my peas were gone. Are mushy peas something I need to to try, or is it literally just mashed up peas?

  • Ahhh… the pub owners are fans of Celtic Football Club! HAIL HAIL!

  • I wish Chicago had a Farmer’s Gastropub! Looks like I’ll have to visit Missouri.

  • We have a farm nearby our house, it’s right in the city and they have the best cafe ever, the ice cream is made from their own cow’s milk and there are peacocks wandering aorund the tables

  • Aren’t local spots the best? I love them so much. Hopefully I get to visit sometime! 🙂

  • Oh my word this place looks too! My friend Anna and I made Leak and Potato soup once. We did it off recipe and to this day I wish we’d written down everything we did. Because it was one of the best soups I’ve ever had.

Last summer I was planning a weekend getaway for me and my fiancé (we are from Joplin) and I wanted restaurants downtown near our B&B, and I felt like I stumbled across a jewel! I had the risotto … Divine! Also went to the Fedora Social House for fondue. Great weekend!
